Sauna Hoikka is a compact log building that continues the wood construction tradition in a contemporary way. Built entirely from solid timber and local materials, the sauna emphasizes durability, authenticity, and a direct relationship with its surroundings.
The layout follows a clear and functional logic, consisting of two simple volumes: the guestroom and the sauna. This dual-frame structure allows efficient construction and creates a calm, well-proportioned interior sequence. Deliberate openings frame views toward the beautiful landscape, allowing natural light and the warmth of wood to define the spatial character.
In its scale, materials, and roof form, the building relates closely to the site’s existing structure. Rather than competing with it, the building establishes a dialogue between old and new — a modest yet distinctive addition that strengthens the identity of the place.
